5.8 Month Sisterlocks

My Sisterlocks still have plenty of frizz.  I had a retightening session this past Wednesday, or was it Thursday which is why so much scalp is showing.  Well, although I claim that I don't see progress , the pucture says otherwise. I see growth and locks forming. Wish I could color because my hair looks dull and blah. Guess I have to be patient.

Your locks are coming along nicely. SL's are a test in patience and it will be worth it you just have to be tell yourself that on the bad days. Don't get down on yourself, just try some new styling methods. Have you tried the lock loops? They brought me some joy!

Ok Sis!!! I feel your pain. Right now you are going through the transitioning phase and trust me I am too. You see other women that look their absolute best and it makes you remember the days when you felt your best. I notice that you have not tried curling your SL's. I sincerely suggest trying Caruso Molecular Rollers. It helps with taking away the dullness as well as adding so much life to the hair. I have been SL'd for nearly 11 months now and I still don't use ANY oils at all. I have not really posted the before and after of using the rollers but I plan on it for 10-01-09. When I use them, my hair has luster and bounce, more than before. Trust me you will enjoy the convenience, ease and natural beauty that ions and steam will add to your hair. Please be encouraged. Anyone can see that you have a gorgeous grade of hair. It's just that sometimes we have a long term goal for our hair & unfortunately we get caught be the debris/distractions that are in the road's journey. Remember it's a process, something like a butterfly. Just know in the end it will continue to get more and more beautiful. Stay strong, stay encouraged and continue to LOCK ON!

I know exactly what you are going through. I don't have sisterlocks i did the braidlocks with microbraids, with my own hair microbraided, then i interlocked the rest. OMG! It is SUCH a hard transition. I hated it too. Somedays I really feel like I want to give up then I get in the shower, or it rains on me or the wind blows and I don't have to worry about my hair, and I say to myself, forget it, this is easier. I wanted to do sisterlocks but I couldn't afford them. However, if you go online there are tons of information as far as styling and stuff, take a look on youtube! Order a sisterlocks subscription they have styles in there too.

I've been locking for about 13 months now and one time I went out and saw a woman with the most beautiful locks down to her lower back. I talked to her about them and she told me the first year is the hardest. but after a year she said it'll get easier and you'll love them. And she's exactly right. Right around that year mark they started becoming more solid locks, no more fuzz and shrinkage, and they fall and blow in the wind and just feel light and fun. I don't like the length but its something I'll have to learn to live with. I've been online looking for things to help my hair grow, like fish oil capsules, horsetail or nettle, scalp massaging, etc.

So you can do what I did, I got rollers and rolled my hair up, with curlers all over then ended up doing a marilyn monroe type of style, just curly all over, with maybe a clip or two in my hair. You can do some braid outs which I thought looked better in the beginning rather than now for me. Buy a clip perhaps and pull the back up and leave the front out, that was my staple dress up style for like the whole year!!!! Don't worry you'll figure it out and this phase won't last forever. I just don't want you to give up.

1 year= it WILL be easier,

hopefully by year 2.5-3 you'll have some good length! (I'm hoping for the samel)

Good luck to you.
