1 Day Old Sisterlocks

This is day one of the rest of my sisterlock life. After spending two days at the salon, my hair is finally done. My stylist is considered to be a trainee, but her work looks as though she has been doing it for years. She works under a seasoned sisterlocker (who is sporting some beautiful mature sisterlocks). They are both very awesome. How did I embark upon this journey you ask? Well, I was happy with my natural hair, but I found that I kept it in a pony tail most of the time because the longer it got the more time it required to style it...and I just did not have the time. I love traditional locks, but I don't think they are for me. I have always wanted Sisterlocks. I did not think Sisterlocks was a possibility because the technique is rather new and I did not know of anyone who did them. I was dropping my son off at daycare and I noticed a lady with really cute natural hair so I went over to her and asked her who did her hair. I did not recognize that she had Sisterlocks because they were new and had not locked yet.....sorta like mine are in this picture. She told me she had Sisterlocks which definitely caught my attention. Come to find out, the salon was five minutes from my house!! Well, visited the salon a few days later and the rest is history as they say.

I was "warned' by my stylist that my hair would frizz based on my texture. Apparently everyone has a different result while they are waiting on their hair to lock. My texture = frizz. The challenge for me is to look try to keep my hair looking professional for work while I wait for it to lock.

I was told not to use any products on my hair until they tell me that I can so I know this stage will very difficult for me. Wish me luck.

Notice how stringy my hair is in the front. That comes from the press & comb. I got my hair pressed two or three times and the heat damaged the natural curl pattern of my hair.
