1 Month Old Sisterlocks
My Sisterlocks are 1 month old. It is just after midnight. I get them washed and tightened for the first time at 9:00am which is why I am having trouble sleeping. I am really anxious to have my stylist freshen my locks up. My hair is coiled a lot tighter to where it no longer simply looks like a twistout. In fact, if you were on the outside looking in, you would have no idea what was going on with my hair. People have no idea that I'm locking just by looking at me, yet it looks as if I have not combed my hair since forever. Some of my ends are rounded and some are loose. My biggest frustration is that I have balls of hair hanging off the ends of some of the locks. To me it looks as if I have a bunch of bugs hanging on by a string. I know I sound harsh on myself...but I guess I'm going through that uncertainty stage of my journey.
On another note....I have got to loose weighgt!! The weight is aging me big time!! I stepped on the scale the other day and was at 167. That is the same amount that I weighed when I was pregnant!!
At this point my hair is bunching up and my temples are coming loose. My temples are pretty short compared to the rest of my hair.

3 Day Old Sisterlocks
My coils are getting tighter and shorter from shrinkage and I am starting to get that frizz my stylist told me about. For those of you who don't know how Sisterlocks work, they use a special tool to make a pattern in tiny sections of your hair. They leave the ends open so your ends take on the pattern of your natural hair. My hair coils. The lock starts at the ends and work its way up to the root. It takes up to 3 months to a year for the hair to lock depending on the texture and if you take care of it. The advantage of Sisterlocks is that they don't come undone in the early stages like traditional locks thanks to the technique.

1 Day Old Sisterlocks
This is day one of the rest of my sisterlock life. After spending two days at the salon, my hair is finally done. My stylist is considered to be a trainee, but her work looks as though she has been doing it for years. She works under a seasoned sisterlocker (who is sporting some beautiful mature sisterlocks). They are both very awesome. How did I embark upon this journey you ask? Well, I was happy with my natural hair, but I found that I kept it in a pony tail most of the time because the longer it got the more time it required to style it...and I just did not have the time. I love traditional locks, but I don't think they are for me. I have always wanted Sisterlocks. I did not think Sisterlocks was a possibility because the technique is rather new and I did not know of anyone who did them. I was dropping my son off at daycare and I noticed a lady with really cute natural hair so I went over to her and asked her who did her hair. I did not recognize that she had Sisterlocks because they were new and had not locked yet.....sorta like mine are in this picture. She told me she had Sisterlocks which definitely caught my attention. Come to find out, the salon was five minutes from my house!! Well, visited the salon a few days later and the rest is history as they say.
I was "warned' by my stylist that my hair would frizz based on my texture. Apparently everyone has a different result while they are waiting on their hair to lock. My texture = frizz. The challenge for me is to look try to keep my hair looking professional for work while I wait for it to lock.
I was told not to use any products on my hair until they tell me that I can so I know this stage will very difficult for me. Wish me luck.
Notice how stringy my hair is in the front. That comes from the press & comb. I got my hair pressed two or three times and the heat damaged the natural curl pattern of my hair.
